Microsoft Windows App SDK 1.6 reduces application launch time by 50%

Ana sayfa / News

Microsoft has released Windows App SDK version 1.6 . One of the most striking innovations that comes with the new version is Ahead-of-Time (AOT) compilation support. This feature provides a great speed increase in the launch times of applications. In fact, it is said that applications open 50% faster. Details in our news…

To give an example, in the Contoso Camera application tested by Microsoft , the AOT-enabled version saw its launch time reduced by up to 50%, while the application size shrank by one-eighth. In self-hosted mode, the size of the software packages was halved.

Windows App SDK 1.6 release not only brings speed improvements, but also new features that give developers more flexibility. In this release, the software package management APIs have been significantly improved, and developers can now run their applications more independently without fully integrating with the Edge WebView2 API.

Another innovation is the CanTearOutTabs mode. With this mode, users can turn an application’s tabs into an independent window, just like in Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome . In other words, when you drag the tabs, a new window is created immediately and you can automatically enlarge this window by dragging it to the edge of the screen.
