Midea officially unveiled its next-generation humanoid robot, the Miro U, at an event in Guangzhou, China. The robot stands out as the world’s first robot with a six-arm, wheel-foot design and was specifically developed for complex industrial tasks and high-efficiency automation.

The Miro U is an upgraded version of Midea’s wheeled humanoid robot, which began operations at its Jingzhou factory in August. The previous model worked side-by-side with autonomous mobile robots (AMR), single-arm four-wheeled robots, Kuka robot systems, and human workers. The new Miro U will soon join this setup to further enhance operational efficiency.

Midea Vice President and CTO Wei Chang confirmed that the Miro U is the third-generation model in the company’s humanoid robot line. The robot aims to multitask and improve factory automation efficiency.

The Miro U supports vertical lifting and 360-degree rotation capabilities. It features six bionic mechanical arms with high-precision control and quick-change end-effector modules for various tasks. Midea developed the robot’s entire technology stack entirely in-house.

Midea plans to deploy Miro U at a high-end washing machine factory in Wuxi by the end of 2025. The robot is expected to improve takt time and increase production line setup efficiency by up to 30%.

Wei Chang also outlined the broader roadmap for Midea’s humanoid robot program:

The company stated that it will continue to invest in artificial intelligence and robotics, and that the large-scale deployment of humanoid robots remains a key priority in Midea’s long-term strategy.
