Samsung’s Update Policy: Which Models Are Still Supported?

Despite Samsung promising 6-7 years of update support for its latest smartphones, older models are unfortunately excluded from this benefit. Recently, the company ended support for models like the Galaxy A02s, A12, and W21 5G. So, which models currently receive updates from Samsung?

With the launch of the Galaxy S24 series in January 2024, Samsung introduced a major improvement to its update policy. According to the new guidelines, all three models in the series will receive Android, One UI, and security updates for a full seven years.

This means the Galaxy S24 series will be supported until 2030, potentially reaching Android 21. Additionally, regular security and One UI patches will be rolled out throughout this period.

Samsung has also extended this policy to all its new flagship devices moving forward. Mid-range models released after the Galaxy A16 5G will receive six years of updates.

With this policy, Samsung ensures its newer models remain competitive with long-term software support. However, older devices are gradually phased out, leaving users to consider upgrading for extended support.
