With Shang-Chi director Destiny Daniel Cretton in the director’s chair, serious steps are being taken for the Naruto movie. Cretton will direct the Naruto movie for Lionsgate and the same studio is also behind the upcoming Borderlands movie project.

Naruto creator Masashi Kishimoto confirmed Cretton as director during a meeting in Tokyo. “After enjoying his other movies and realizing his talent for creating solid dramas about people, I was convinced that there was no other director for Naruto,” Kishimoto said.
“When I met Destin, I realized that he is an open-minded director who embraces my ideas and believes that we can work together during the production process,” Kishimoto added.
A Naruto movie has been on the agenda for many years, but has never gotten off the ground due to production stalling, a common occurrence in Hollywood. Now it is back on the table, but as usual, there are no guarantees that it will happen.
Naruto tells the story of Uzumaki Naruto, a young boy who is ostracized by the people in his village.
Both the manga series and the anime adaptation of Naruto have been a huge success. Since its serialization in 1999, it has become one of the most popular anime series, often appearing on bestseller lists alongside other notable series such as One Piece and Bleach.
