The demonstrations that have been going on in the US for a while are deeply affecting both the gaming and movie worlds. Netflix series that had previously suffered production delays were finally canceled. These included beloved projects such as Shadow and Bone and Agent Elvis.
Shadow and Bone, Captain Fall and others… Here are the canceled Netflix series
Netflix canceled five series after production delays caused by Hollywood strikes. It also signaled that more projects may be canceled with the disruption of productions.
Among the canceled series, the fantasy drama Shadow and Bone, which has already aired two seasons, stands out. Also canceled were the animated comedies Agent Elvis, Farzar and Captain Fall, which only aired one season each. Glamorous, a live-action series that began airing in July, has also been canceled.
These decisions stem from the WGA and SAG-AFTRA protests that Netflix and its studios have been grappling with. The protests, which led to a seven-month production shutdown, delayed series schedules. The fact that the series Netflix planned for 2024 and 2025 missed their broadcast periods led Netflix to turn to different projects.
In the following period, it seems that there will be cuts in the sequels. Especially series entering their second seasons may be canceled if they cannot be filmed by the set date. For example, the gap between the first and second season is thought to have hurt Shadow and Bone.
Even more interestingly, Captain Fall was canceled midway through its 20-episode first season. It was also stated that the audience of Glamorous and Shadow and Bone was not enough.
