Netflix continues to make great strides in game development. The company announced at its last financial meeting that more than 80 games are currently being developed. So what quality games are we talking about? Here are the details…

Netflix COO Gregory K. Peters stated that these new games will be connected to Netflix’s popular IPs and that they have made rapid progress, especially in interactive story games. These games aim to keep users on the platform during the gaps between series seasons.

Netflix stated that the global game market generates $150 billion in revenue annually and explained that the main reason they invest in the game industry is to make money. The company emphasized that there are no microtransactions or ads in its games, but stated that they may also work on ad-based games in the future.

Netflix CEO Theodore A. Sarandos said that these games will be a meeting point for fans and may even take part in the next season or movie continuation by introducing new characters, story arcs or event twists.

It is planned to add at least one new game to the Netflix Stories application every month, starting from July. These games will also include games inspired by popular Netflix series such as Emily in Paris and Selling Sunset.

Additionally, Squid Game has a multiplayer game coming out this year, and former Halo and Destiny executive Joseph Staten is working on a AAA multiplatform game for Netflix. Netflix aims to attract users’ attention and keep them on the platform by developing different types of games.

The company plans to release more games over the next few quarters and years. The aim is to expand the user base of the platform and satisfy its existing users. What are you thinking? You can share your opinions in the comments section below.
