Netflix’s financial director Spencer Neumann announced that the company’s content spending will exceed last year’s. The platform, which spent $16.2 billion in 2024, aims to increase this figure to $18 billion in 2025. Neumann emphasized that this increase could continue in the coming years and that they have not yet reached the maximum level.
It is not yet clear how much of the company’s budget will be allocated to original content and how much to license agreements. However, the platform attracts great attention not only with its own productions but also with popular licensed content. Series such as Friends and Suits have long been among Netflix users’ favorites.
In addition, Netflix will also increase its investments in productions outside the US. Following the great success of content from countries such as South Korea, Spain and Germany, the platform has started to allocate more budget to international projects.
