A major development is underway in the media and entertainment world. It’s being reported that Netflix has begun taking serious steps toward acquiring Warner Bros. This move could reshape both the film and gaming industries.
Netflix has hired an advisor for the Warner Bros. acquisition
According to information shared by Deadline, Netflix has begun preparing for this potential acquisition. They signed an advisory agreement with investment bank Moelis & Co. This development comes shortly after Warner Bros. Discovery announced last week that it was open to negotiations with buyers.
A potential deal could encompass all of Warner Bros. Discovery’s assets. Most notably, the Warner Bros. Games division holds significant intellectual property rights such as Mortal Kombat, Harry Potter, DC Comics, and Game of Thrones.
Warner Bros. Games includes major studios such as Avalanche Software, NetherRealm Studios, Rocksteady Studios, and TT Games. If the transaction goes through, these studios and the popular franchises they develop would come directly under Netflix.
Netflix’s gaming strategy will accelerate
Netflix has been trying to establish itself in the gaming world for some time. However, they haven’t gained significant momentum so far. However, the addition of Warner Bros. Games to the portfolio could significantly accelerate Netflix’s gaming strategy. The company sees this move as a critical step in expanding its content offering.
