Subscribers are confused because of Netflix password sharing policy
Netflix has started testing its new passwords sharing policy in several countries inlcluiding Peru. The aim was to get feedback from subscribers in these countries and then open the feature for global. However, according to the report of Rest of World, most of the users said that they were confused after the new feature.
The majority of subscribers, faced a price increase and canceled their accounts as a result of Netflix‘s password sharing test. Some users did not encounter any warnings at all and continued to share their accounts without paying.
According to the statement made by Netflix, in the near future the only users living in the same building will be able to share their passwords. However, the company added that the account sharing policy is still under development and may change over time.
The reason why Netflix is so insistent on its password sharing policy is quite simple. According to reports sent to shareholders, more than 70 percent of Netflix subscribers share their accounts with others. The platform generated $3.58 billion in revenue in 2021, but if there was no account sharing, this amount could have been higher.
