Netflix Closes the Purse for Bioshock
According to Roy Lee’s statement to Variety, Netflix’s new management reviewed the budget allocated for the film and significantly reduced it. This change has affected the vision and approach of the film. Lee summarized the new direction of the film by stating that it will offer a more personal perspective rather than being a big, showy project.
The BioShock film was first announced in 2022. Despite some changes since then, Francis Lawrence still occupies the director’s chair. Initially, the script was assigned to Michael Green, who is known for writing films such as Logan and Blade Runner 2049.
The film will be an adaptation of the legendary video game series released in 2007, which takes players to the underwater utopia of Rapture, collapsed due to greed and corrupt morals.
No release date has been set for Netflix’s BioShock film yet. This production, along with titles like Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 and Minecraft, is among the future video game adaptations that will meet the audience.
