It’s been discussed that Elon Musk’s Neuralink venture has been facing several legal issues lately. While the company claims to have successfully enhanced mental functions by implanting chips into the human brain, it seems this may not be enough to alleviate ethical concerns. Activists argue that a system so deeply integrated with the brain could lead to serious problems in the future. So far, Musk doesn’t seem to have provided a satisfactory response to these criticisms. Here are all the details…
Is Neuralink facing legal issues?
It’s been known that Neuralink has had difficulty obtaining certain legal permissions. Particularly, scientific experiments on humans had been repeatedly denied. In fact, the company was alleged to have conducted some experiments without proper legal permission, until it finally obtained permission to conduct human trials in May 2023. With this development, many people lined up to have chips implanted in their brains. The overwhelming demand raised questions about whether certain legal authorities were protecting people’s rights or depriving them of a right.
Additionally, Neuralink conducted various tests on animals, particularly monkeys, which also led to numerous allegations. It was revealed that animals participating in the experiments suffered serious health issues, and some even died. Elon Musk responded to these allegations by stating that they only used animals with terminal illnesses in their experiments. Furthermore, some experts argue that ethical violations in such research should be overlooked as such studies could benefit all of humanity.
What do you think about this issue? What should Neuralink do? Would you allow a chip to be implanted in your brain? You can easily share your thoughts with us in the comments section below. Your opinions are very valuable to us.
