Meta, the parent company of Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, will launch the Meta Quest 3 headset model at the end of the year. The Meta Quest 2 virtual reality headset, which has reached incredibly high sales numbers, will be replaced by the Meta Quest 3 model before the end of 2023. According to Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, this new model will center on Meta Reality technology.
Meta Quest 3 VR headset will feature Meta Reality
“The MR (mixed reality) ecosystem is relatively new, but I think it’s going to grow a lot in the next few years,” said Zuckerberg. Zuckerberg then added “Later this year, we’re going to launch our next generation consumer headset, which will feature Meta Reality as well, and I expect that this is going to establish this technology as the baseline for all headsets going forward, and eventually of course for AR glasses as well.”
Thanks to this technology, the product, whose main focus is virtual reality, will also touch the augmented reality side and will be able to offer an impressive mixed reality experience by combining the two sides. If there is no change, the product will be sold at a price between 300 and 500 dollars. With its mixed reality infrastructure, it will bring more usage scenarios than Meta Quest 2. Other details of Meta Quest 3 are not yet known, but it is expected to be lighter than the model which it will replace. The headset will definitely carry higher resolution displays. It will also have multiple color cameras on the outside.
The company is also on the agenda with its new smartwatch model. The model, which was previously called canceled, is on the table again. The smartwatch, which is reported to be built on the Android operating system, looks stylish, but still does not create the impression that it can attract a lot of attention if it is introduced to the market.
The product, which has two different cameras positioned on the front and back, is an option that can be used for video calling purposes. Expected to be launched before the end of 2023, this uncertain smartwatch may be a model that many people will stay away from due to “privacy” concerns.
