Ana sayfa / Smartwatch

There is a new development in the ban on the sales of Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2, as Apple was found to have violated Masimo’s patents by the International Trade Commission (ITC). A release decision has been made for Apple Watch. Here is the lawsuit filed by Masimo for Apple Watch and its latest developments…

Import ban for Apple Watch has been lifted!

Our old readers may remember that there was a “patent crisis” between Apple and Masimo in the past months.

Apple was accused of using the pulse oximeter feature previously purchased by Masimo without permission. Subsequently, the issue was brought to the local courts of the United States and an import ban was imposed on Apple Watch products. Following the allegation that the pulse oximeter feature of Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2 was stolen from Masimo, the US court imposed a sales and import ban on these products.

In the ongoing process, the court asked for the products and patents to be examined. According to the information received today, the court made its decision.

The pulse oximeter feature, which is used to measure the oxygen saturation in a user’s red blood cells and show how well the person’s lungs are working, has been banned from use in the Apple Watch Series 9, Apple Watch Ultra 2, and new Watch models that will be introduced in the coming period. With this condition, Watch sales can continue. A similar situation occurred again between AliveCor and Apple in 2023. The court reported that the patents of the AliveCor company were violated. For this reason, it had to redesign the ECG feature used in Apple Watch models. A similar situation can be repeated for the pulse oximeter feature.
