New feature for WhatsApp that may worry users!

Ana sayfa /

The latest beta version of WhatsApp introduces a new feature that is likely to reignite users’ privacy concerns. Meta’s popular messaging app is adding a memory feature to its AI assistant, Meta AI, allowing the bot to remember certain parts of conversations with users. However, this feature has already sparked debate.

Is WhatsApp becoming less secure?

According to WABetaInfo, this new feature was discovered in WhatsApp’s Android beta version 2.24.22.9. The new “Memory” section will be found in the chat info page and will include the information Meta AI remembers about the user. This development brings new debates about Meta’s approach to collecting and storing user data.

Looking at the technical details of the feature, it’s noted that Meta AI will automatically remember specific information from chats, and users can manually save private details using the “Remember this” command. These details will help the chatbot provide more relevant responses in future conversations.

A cybersecurity expert commented on the update, stating, “Given Meta’s past data scandals, it is completely normal for users to be concerned. This new feature could open the door to deeper analysis of our personal conversations and potentially be used for ad targeting.”

It seems that with every new innovation in AI, Meta will continue to stir different debates among users. What do you think about this? Don’t forget to share your thoughts in the comments!
