A new AI tool has started to be offered to YouTube Premium users in the U.S. This feature aims to allow users to interact with videos by asking questions about the content, summarizing videos, and recommending similar videos.
With YouTube Premium, you can now get summaries from videos!
This AI tool, specifically designed for YouTube Premium, works similarly to Google Photos’ “Ask Photos” feature. Users can directly ask questions related to the video while watching, and the AI can answer those questions.
For example, a user watching a cooking recipe can ask, “What ingredients are they using?” to get detailed information about the content in the video. Additionally, the AI summarizes the watched videos, saving time and recommending similar content to users. This new feature is currently only available through the Android app.
YouTube’s move is one of many innovations aimed at making its paid subscription model more appealing.
Recently, YouTube has been raising subscription prices and trying to close the gap by offering more benefits to Premium subscribers while showing much more advertising to standard users. Google’s advertising pressure and restrictions on ad blockers have been part of previous strategies to encourage users to switch to Premium.
This AI-powered new feature may become available on more devices and platforms in the future. So, is an AI-based experience a sufficient reason to switch to YouTube Premium? You can share your thoughts with us in the comments!
