Mysterious Google Play Store filter revealed
The new feature of the Play Store was revealed by Android Authority in the APK file for version 43.7.19-31 in the official Android store. The new option consists of ‘filtering apps that link to external apps’, as you can see in the screenshot below.
The tendency will be to filter out so-called Android App Links, which allow developers to add links to redirect content from other apps. This option is also being considered as Google’s attempt to block the presence of other third-party stores.
Another possibility could be on the security side, as a way to prevent an app from taking you to another unknown app. However, something aimed at user protection could be more directly applied to internal policies rather than an optional item.
This remarkable feature is expected to reach all users very soon. In the coming days, it is thought that there will be more details about how and for what purpose this mysterious filter option will work.
