Volvo has completely revamped the EX90 for the 2026 model year. The brand’s three-row electric SUV now features a new 800V electrical architecture. This system replaces the previous 400V infrastructure and offers significant advantages in terms of both speed and efficiency.
2026 Volvo EX90 Announced
According to a statement from Volvo, new battery management software works in harmony with the 800V system and optimizes charging. This allows the vehicle to gain a range of 250 kilometers in just 10 minutes with a 350 kW DC fast charger. The improvements don’t stop at charging speeds. The new system offers stronger acceleration, increased efficiency, and a lighter engine and battery.
The 2026 Volvo EX90 also features a new electrochromic panoramic glass roof. This technology, adopted from the ES90, allows the glass to be darkened with a single touch. The vehicle also features many new features that enhance driving safety.
These include a connected safety system that sends warnings about slippery roads, road hazards, and accidents; Emergency Stop Assist, which safely stops the vehicle if the driver doesn’t respond; and an automatic emergency steering system that now works even in the dark. Parallel parking capability has been added to Park Pilot Assist.
The new EX90 is not only gaining hardware but also software strength. The vehicle’s dual NVIDIA DRIVE AGX Orin-based core computers can perform 500 trillion operations per second. Owners of the 2025 EX90 can also take advantage of this upgrade; simply visit your Volvo dealer and get a software update.
