It is necessary to mention that this newly surfaced iPad model is a China-exclusive version. Besides being limited to a single country, it represents only a minor variant of the existing model. In the announcement, Apple revealed an updated version of the 10th generation iPad with cellular capabilities and eSIM support in the China-exclusive version.
According to an Apple support document, China Unicom is currently the only supported eSIM operator for the iPad in China. This support in China requires a 10th generation iPad with the model number A3162. Generally, the U.S. version already includes eSIM support. However, there hasn’t been a preannouncement for the U.S. version yet.
