After a dedicated 5-year development process, Black Myth: Wukong launched on August 20, 2024, smashing all doubts and making a huge impact on Steam. Developed by Chinese company Game Science, the game has surpassed even Cyberpunk 2077, setting a new record for concurrent players.
Black Myth: Wukong is currently being played by 1.5 million players simultaneously!
Since the release of its first trailer, the game has created massive excitement with both its gameplay and graphics. As of today, it has officially gone on sale. Black Myth: Wukong, the largest game ever released from the Chinese market, has quickly exploded in popularity on Steam, with 1,608,762 players currently playing it simultaneously.
By surpassing games like Cyberpunk 2077, Lost Ark, and Dota, Wukong has claimed the 4th spot on Steam’s most-played list. The next target for Wukong is Counter-Strike 2. If the game can attract an additional 250,000 players in the coming hours, it will move into the 3rd spot in Steam’s history of concurrent players.
Here are the top games with the highest concurrent player counts in Steam’s history:
- PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS – 3,257,248
- Palworld – 2,101,867
- Counter-Strike 2 – 1,818,773
- Black Myth: Wukong – 1,608,762
- Lost Ark – 1,325,305
Considering the game’s release on Steam, Epic Games Store, and consoles, it’s safe to say that Game Science is currently enjoying massive financial success. Expansion packs and sequels may already be in the works to further celebrate the game’s triumph.
