HBO Max, one of the most important names in the online content market, will not exist in the future. A new service is being established in its place. Warner Bros. Discovery, the umbrella company born last year with the merger of Warner Media and Discovery, announced that they have decided to merge HBO Max and Discovery Plus services in 2023.
Pricing for the new service will be similar to HBO Max and Discovery+
The new service, which will be introduced in the summer of 2023, may be called “Max”. This is still not a 100 percent finalized name, but it is reported that the name “Max” is the most popular option within the company due to the recognition of HBO Max. HBO Go, HBO Now and HBO Max were also on the table for the new service, but it seems that the simple “Max” will be chosen in the final stage. Warner Bros. Discovery is reportedly worried that the name “HBO” may keep new subscribers away from the service.
The new service, which is already making news, is expected to be brought to Europe and Asia-Pacific in 2024. A source close to the matter told Bloomberg that the next-generation Max service will bring better video quality. It will also bring advanced features that have not yet been fully revealed. The service will face tough competition from Netflix and Disney+. The service is moving a bit slowly, but it looks like it will be a hot topic next year.
The prices will stay the same, according to Bloomberg, which currently costs about $15 per month for the ad-free option and up to $20 per month for the high-tiered option which offers more high-end features and a better video experience. Warner Bros. Discovery has set an April 12th press day to announce further details about the service. Then we’ll know the rest of the details.
