CS:GO has nearly reached 2 million players online simultaneously. Here are the details.
A new milestone has been reached in Steam’s concurrent player records. Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO) broke its own record with more than 1.8 million players. Interest in the war game has been rekindled with the announcement of Counter-Strike 2 and the BLAST Paris Major event. CS:GO manages to break its own record almost every month.
Concurrent player record for Steam: CS:GO reaches 1.8 million
CS:GO has been insatiable in setting concurrent player records lately. As of Saturday, May 6, there were reported to be 1,818,773 players in the game. This means the game surpassed the 1.5 million threshold it had reached just six weeks ago.
The BLAST Paris Major event is expected to begin on May 8. Both this event and the recent announcement of Counter-Strike 2 have created a new wave of interest in the game. Also, its success in e-sports competitions should not be overlooked.
News that emerged a while ago showed that CS:GO had broken yet another record. According to data shared by the “CS:GO Case Tracker” platform, a total of 39.5 million cases were opened by players in March. This record took place after the announcement of Counter-Strike 2.
The increasing demand for the war game does not seem to be slowing down anytime soon. Having broken its own record within just a few months, CS:GO’s new target is to reach 2 million concurrent players.
