Sony has released a new system update for PS5 users. This package, version numbered “25.07-12-20-00,” focuses on significant functional improvements and stability improvements rather than major innovations.
What does the PS5 system update bring?
The most notable feature of the new update is the ability to view the serial numbers of the console and DualSense controllers from the menu. This eliminates the need for users to physically rotate the PS5 for support or warranty issues.
Users can find the console serial number by going to Settings > System > Console Information. To find the DualSense serial number, simply go to Settings > Accessories > General > Advanced Settings. This feature works for both wired and wireless DualSense controllers.
In addition to this functional feature, Sony has improved overall PS5 system performance and stability. A firmware update for the DualSense Edge controller is also included. System-wide messages and the interface are also reportedly more understandable.
