Ana sayfa /

BMW has issued a new recall warning for Mini models. More than 10 thousand electric Mini Cooper models are at risk of fire. The German automotive giant found faults in the battery and electrical system.

BMW Group, which owns the MINI brand, has recalled 12,535 electric Mini Cooper SE models from the 2020-2024 model years due to the risk of fire. According to documents submitted to the US NHTSA, faults in the battery and electrical system can cause a short circuit. This can lead to overheating and the risk of fire.

BMW first took action on this problem last year. In October, there was an accident in the US in which a MINI Cooper SE caught fire while parked. Then in January, another vehicle caught fire in Germany, leading to an investigation.

A very interesting claim came to the agenda for Nvidia, which is going through very difficult times worldwide.

BMW engineers found that insulation faults in the high-voltage battery were responsible for the fire risk. However, it was stated that the root cause was not caused by a single component or problem in all recalled models.

The recall affects around 12,535 MINI Cooper SE hatchback versions produced between 2019 and 2024. Some vehicles will receive a software update for fire risk and safety systems.

No accidents or injuries were reported as part of the warning. The update will run tests on the vehicle to detect faults. Accordingly, if any malfunction is found, it will automatically reduce the battery below 30 percent.
