Volvo has generated excitement in the automotive world with the unveiling of its new SUV models, the Volvo XC90 and the all-electric Volvo EX90, at a global launch in Gothenburg. These two models aim to stand out with their technology, safety standards, and sustainability goals. Here are all the details…

The Volvo XC90, one of the brand’s best-selling models for years, continues its legacy in this new generation with hybrid technology, offering an eco-friendly driving experience. The plug-in hybrid version provides a range of over 70 kilometers on a single charge, according to WLTP standards.

This feature allows users to drive emission-free, especially in urban settings. According to Volvo, drivers using the plug-in hybrid models complete nearly half of their total distance solely on electric power.

The revamped XC90 reflects the brand’s vision for fully electric vehicles in its exterior design. With a modernized appearance and enhanced aerodynamics, this SUV also offers significant changes in its interior.

Elon Musk’s big electric vehicle plan is gone in an instant!

Tesla's big electric vehicle plan has been deleted from its website after Musk's rapprochement with oil advocate Trump.

The interior of the XC90 blends Scandinavian minimalism with sustainable materials, providing both aesthetics and comfort. The redesigned dashboard and interior lighting enhance the sense of luxury and spaciousness.

A larger 11.2-inch touchscreen with a 21% increase in pixel density allows users to access frequently used apps like maps, media, and phone functions with greater clarity. A new contextual area feature adapts the display content according to the driver’s needs, minimizing distractions.

On the safety front, the XC90 introduces significant innovations. Equipped with radar and camera systems, the car can automatically steer back into its lane and prevent potential collisions if it detects the vehicle moving into the opposite lane.

Additionally, it features advanced braking and steering systems designed to avoid accidents involving large animals, pedestrians, and cyclists. The air suspension system, which adjusts the vehicle’s height according to driving conditions, improves road grip, lowering the vehicle by 20 mm and raising it by 40 mm, offering better aerodynamics at high speeds and increased ground clearance on rough terrains.

Another standout feature of the XC90 is the Bowers & Wilkins High Fidelity sound system with Dolby Atmos support, providing a premium audio experience. The vehicle’s improved sound insulation minimizes wind and road noise for a quieter cabin environment.

Interior details have been reorganized for ease of use, with the wireless phone charging area now more accessible, and functional additions like smaller cup holders enhancing user comfort.

The fully electric Volvo EX90 offers a 600-kilometer range on a single charge. Capable of charging up to 80% in just 30 minutes, the EX90 is among the fastest-charging electric vehicles.

The EX90 focuses not only on sustainability but also on safety, equipped with Volvo’s advanced safety technologies. Using lidar, radar, and cameras, the vehicle continuously monitors its surroundings, detecting even small objects day or night and alerting the driver to potential hazards. The EX90’s 360-degree sensing system runs on the NVIDIA DRIVE platform, detecting potential threats early and automatically intervening when necessary.

The EX90’s infotainment system, featuring a 14.5-inch touchscreen, offers a seamless digital experience with Google Assistant, Google Maps, and Google Play integration. With support for wireless Apple CarPlay and 5G connectivity, apps load quickly, enhancing the user experience.

Additionally, the EX90 debuts a Dolby Atmos-enabled Bowers & Wilkins sound system, taking the music experience to a new level. Speakers integrated into the headrests ensure sound is evenly distributed throughout the cabin.

The EX90 also includes phone-integrated key technology, allowing users to use their smartphones as car keys. It’s equipped with systems that detect driver fatigue and distractions, alerting the driver when necessary to ensure safe driving.

Production of the Volvo XC90 and EX90 will begin at the end of 2024. The Volvo XC90 will go on sale in Turkey in 2025, while the all-electric EX90 has already launched in the U.S. and European markets, with a planned release in Turkey at the beginning of 2025.
