According to previous reports, Nintendo would have launched the Nintendo Switch Pro at the end of this year. However, the latest financial statements show that the company has more significant problems like production problems related to parts shortages. The analysis says that Nintendo will not launch a new Switch Pro until at least the spring of 2023. Here are the details.
Nintendo may release Switch Pro in 2023
The shortage of semiconductors has affected many video game console companies for over a year. It also affected Nintendo, and its Switch sales are currently down by 22.9% due to this shortage, while Wii sales reached 101.63 million and Game Boy Advance sales rise to 81.51 million. The game console giant is trying to solve this problem.
Bloomberg journalist Takashi Mochizuki posted on Twitter, “Nikkei: there will be no new Nintendo hardware this fiscal year, which ends in March 2023. Not immediately clear whether that part of the article is from Nikkei’s reporting or what Nintendo President, who Nikkei interviewed for the story, said.”
Nintendo Switch Pro is expected to be a more high-quality game console than Switch OLED. Switch OLED can display games at 720p and even 4K (dock mode) in the most optimistic case. It also comes with a 7-inch OLED screen. The console supports 64GB of built-in storage in handheld mode, up to 720/60 frames, and 1080P / 60 frames in TV mode.
For the reasons above, Nintendo Switch Pro will not come until the spring of 2023. The company still keeps its sales target as same until March 2023. Therefore, Nintendo will try to decrease the effect of the parts shortage.
