Nothing CEO Carl Pei discussed Apple’s new products in a video posted on the company’s YouTube channel. Speaking about the iPhone 15 series and Watch Series 9 models, Pei shared his thoughts on these devices.
What does the Nothing founder think about the iPhone 15?
As you know, with the iPhone 15 series, Apple switched from Lightning to USB-C port. Pei thinks this transition will be a win for the tech industry. He hopes that Apple will standardize USB-C, even though it was a decision made under pressure from the European Union.
The Nothing CEO also pointed to Apple’s history of using technologies like Lightning and AirDrop to connect users to its ecosystem. While it was a smart move, he emphasized that as the world’s most valuable company, it should embrace other technologies.
He praised the iPhone 15 Pro’s titanium coating, saying it would offer advantages in terms of durability. However, he doesn’t think the Action button replacing the volume up/down button will make a significant contribution to users.
The Nothing founder also acknowledges that the Apple Watch series is the market leader. However, he believes that features like Tap Gesture in Watch Series 9 are not enough. At the end of the video, he states that he respects Apple but it is boring.
Pei recently expressed skepticism about augmented reality-focused devices such as the VR/AR-focused Vision Pro. Especially considering its price of 3500 dollars, its usefulness is more questionable.
