Nubia, known for its camera-focused smartphones, has begun sharing clues about its next flagship model, the Z80 Ultra. Initial details leaked by company executives suggest the device will further build on the legacy of its predecessors. Here are the expected Nubia Z80 Ultra features.
The Nubia Z80 Ultra will stand out with its powerful camera
According to a statement from Nubia CEO Zhang Lei, the Z80 Ultra will maintain the all-screen experience with a notch-less, punch-hole-less display. The front camera will still be hidden beneath the panel. However, significant improvements have been made to this technology to reduce the “hazy” effect seen in previous models and deliver clearer selfies.
The display itself will have a 144Hz refresh rate for smooth visuals. Another feature that will excite gamers is the touch sampling rate, which can reach a peak of up to 3,000Hz in gaming mode.
Nubia aims to raise the bar on photography capabilities with the Z80 Ultra. The ultrawide camera, in particular, has received significant improvements. The phone will feature a larger ultrawide sensor at 1/1.55-inch. This size is significantly larger than the sensors used in the Z70 Ultra and Z70S Ultra (1/2.88-inch), as well as those used in rival flagships like the Xiaomi 17 Pro (1/2.76-inch) or the Galaxy S25 Ultra (1/2.5-inch).
Nubia emphasizes that by not sacrificing the quality of the ultrawide camera, which many rivals have neglected to cut costs, the device will give it a clear advantage in certain shooting scenarios.
The phone’s performance will also be top-notch. Company executives confirmed that the Z80 Ultra will be powered by Qualcomm’s next-generation flagship processor, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5.
The device’s battery capacity is also expected to be significantly increased. The battery is rumored to be increased to 7,100mAh, offering significantly longer battery life than the Z70 Ultra’s 6,150mAh and the Z70S Ultra’s 6,600mAh. The Nubia Z80 Ultra is expected to launch in November.
