NVIDIA has officially announced the RTX 5880 Ada, its new professional graphics card for workstations. As expected from previous leaks, the RTX 5880 Ada will be an affordable version of the flagship-level RTX 6000 Ada.
What does Nvidia RTX 5880 Ada offer?
RTX 5880 Ada is based on the Ada Lovelace architecture of the RTX 60 series. However, it features the AD102 chip with 14,80 CUDA cores, a drop of about 22 percent compared to the RTX 6000’s 18,240 CUDA cores. Tensor and ray-tracing efficiency is 24 percent lower.
However, RTX 5880 Ada retains the 48 GB GDDR6 memory found in RTX 6000. According to the company, this memory offers 960GB/s bandwidth and is expected to meet the VRAM needs for professional workloads.
The power consumption of the new graphics card is 285W. This means a power saving of 15W compared to the RTX 6000. Other features remain the same, including a dual-slot cooler, four DisplayPort outputs and a triple video encoding engine.
Official pricing has not been announced. However, industry analysts expect the RTX 5880 Ada to be priced similarly to the RTX 6000 Ada. The RTX 6000 model hit the shelves with a price tag of $6800. This suggests that the new graphics card will be priced at $6500.
Joining Nvidia’s Ada-based GPU lineup, the RTX 5880 Ada aims to be an affordable alternative to the flagship RTX 6000. It aims to bring the power of RTX and Tensor cores to professional users.
