NVIDIA Blackwell details and roadmap revealed!

Ana sayfa / News

NVIDIA has taken a big step in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) and accelerated computing, announcing the details of its next-generation GPU architecture Blackwell and its future product roadmap. In the statements made at the Hot Chips 2024 conference, it was emphasized that Blackwell will set new standards in AI and computing performance. So, what are these new standards?

NVIDIA’s new architecture offers a full ecosystem of components including the Grace CPU, BlueField data processing unit, ConnectX network cards, and NVLink. Blackwell stands out with its particularly high bandwidth and energy efficiency.

NVIDIA introduced a high-bandwidth interface (NV-HBI) that offers 10 TB/s of bandwidth between two GPUs. Additionally, new FP4 and FP6 compute accuracies will be used to improve performance in certain situations. One of the most notable features is Blackwell’s ability to train and run AI models with 10 trillion parameters.

NVIDIA’s new NVLink switch chips enable high-volume data transfers with low power consumption, while systems such as the GB200 NVL72 have the capacity to run models with trillions of parameters in real time.

NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang stated that Blackwell is not just a chip, but also an entire platform, and that this technology will reshape AI applications. NVIDIA’s Blackwell chips seem to make a big leap in AI technologies in the coming years.

However, due to some disruptions in the production process, the chips’ release may be delayed until 2025. This could affect NVIDIA’s major customers such as Meta, Google, and Microsoft, but analysts believe that this delay will not have a major negative impact on the company’s revenues.

Strong innovations like Blackwell are essential for NVIDIA to maintain its leadership in the AI market. However, its competitors in the AI sector have also taken action to compete in this area. As a result, it is possible to say that there will be a big race in AI technologies in the next few years.
