NVIDIA introduced the new GeForce RTX 4000 series graphics cards at the GTX 22 event. Thanks to the Ada Lovelace architecture, they provide a performance increase of 2 to 4 times compared to their predecessors. But something unexpected happened today. NVIDIA has removed the release date of the RTX 4080 12GB graphics card. So what’s behind this decision?
NVIDIA will rename the RTX 4080 12 GB!
NVIDIA introduced 3 new graphics cards last month. These are RTX 4090, RTX 4080 16 GB and RTX 4080 12 GB. However, the performance difference between RTX 4080 16 GB and RTX 4080 12 GB reaches 30 percent. Therefore, it received criticism for coming out with the same name.
The logical thing would be to say RTX 4070 or RTX 4070 Ti instead of RTX 4080 12 GB. Of course, if there is already a video card with this name, Ti can add to the 16 GB version. NVIDIA has already made it clear that it has this idea. Then it removed the release date of the video card.
If we leave all this name controversy aside, we can say that the new RTX 40 series are very successful. These devices are not available for sale for now. However, the performance tests show that they give at least 1.5 times and most 4 times higher performance than the previous series. Also, let’s not forget the DLSS 3 support.
