NVIDIA may take a different approach for the GeForce RTX 50 “Blackwell” series. It is rumored that the company will not introduce all models this year. The most powerful model, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090, will debut first. Next year, other RTX 50 models will be gradually introduced.
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 coming this year
According to a new leak on the forums, NVIDIA is taking its time with the GeForce RTX 50 “Blackwell” series of graphics cards. Accordingly, the launch, which was expected to take place later this year, has allegedly been postponed. Instead of launching the entire series, the company will only introduce the GeForce RTX 5090 this year.
Launching only the RTX 5090 in 2024 reflects a very different policy. NVIDIA doesn’t want to waste the year and wants to save the RTX 50 series graphics cards for next year. At the launch, the technology of the Blackwell series can be detailed. Also, the performance improvements compared to the RTX 40 series will be discussed.
As part of the RTX 50 series, RTX 5060, 5070 and 5080 graphics cards are expected to debut. However, recent leaks have revealed that these models have been pushed back to 2025. Seeing the specs and benchmark results of the RTX 5090 will give us an idea of the rest of the lineup.
There are several reasons for NVIDIA’s change in strategy. Foremost among them are the stock issues with the RTX 40 series. The RTX 40 family, which has been in stock since late last year, could dominate the market in 2024.
On the other hand, NVIDIA introduced the RTX 2024 SUPER family at the latest CES 40. RTX 4080 Super, the most powerful member of the series, draws attention with details such as 10240 CUDA cores and 16 GB GDDR6X memory.
