Twitch, one of the world’s largest digital broadcasting platforms, is taking various steps to earn more money. The company, owned by Amazon, recently made a remarkable decision in this context. However, Twitch backed off this decision after receiving backlash. Here are the details…
Obscene content is banned again on Twitch
Twitch announced a new policy for broadcasts containing sexually explicit images on December 13. But the changes sparked controversy on social media. Because, according to this change, “private dances” would be allowedin publications containing obscenity labels on the platform.
The broadcasting platform’s decision brought OnlyFans to the users’ minds. In the discussions on social media, some thought this change was justified on the grounds that it offered freedom to content producers, while the majority thought the opposite. Today, Twitch took the step back that was expected by users.
Twitch CEO Dan Clancy said in his statement that they thought they had gone too far with their new policies and that announced that they are reviewing the new rules accordingly. Accordingly, changes were made again. Accordingly, obscene content will no longer be allowed as it was in the past. In other words, “special dance” will not be possible in publications containing obscenity tags.
The relevant statement made by Twitch CEO Dan Clancy is as follows:
“After consideration, we decided we had gone too far with this change. Digital depictions of sexually explicit content present a unique challenge; AI can be used to create realistic images, and it can be difficult to distinguish between digital art and photography. Therefore, starting today, we are reversing changes to artistic explicit content. Depictions of obscenity, real or fictional, will no longer be permitted on Twitch, regardless of medium.’
