With the One UI 8.5 update, which will refresh the user interface, Samsung will not only offer aesthetic changes but also introduce new features that will significantly improve the connection quality of devices. The company is adding two new AI-powered connection options to enhance the user experience.
One UI 8.5 Improves Connection Quality
The most notable of these innovations is Real-Time Data Priority Mode. This feature prevents background updates or other intensive tasks from causing interruptions during data-intensive applications like video calls. This ensures connection stability during critical moments.
Samsung also plans to use AI to make switching between Wi-Fi and mobile data smoother. To this end, it’s introducing two new smart switching features. The first is Smart Connection Assessment.
This feature analyzes the stability of the current Wi-Fi connection and determines whether to switch to mobile data when the signal is weak. The second is Smart Network Switching.
This feature analyzes not only the current signal status but also the device’s past connection data. For example, if it detects that Wi-Fi is constantly disconnecting in a certain geographic area, it automatically switches to mobile data just before the signal degrades.
These smart features provide significant convenience by eliminating the hassle of constantly manually turning Wi-Fi on and off. However, according to the report, the existing Secure Wi-Fi option is being removed with this update.
Whether this is a temporary or permanent removal is not yet clear, but removing this feature from the system could raise user concerns about security and privacy.
