The OnePlus 13 is making waves with its Geekbench test results, while Apple’s iPhone 16 with the A18 chip may not meet expectations. Powered by Qualcomm’s next-gen Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 processor, the OnePlus 13 posted impressive numbers in these performance tests.
Can the OnePlus 13 Challenge Apple’s New Devices?
According to Geekbench results, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 processor in the OnePlus 13 scored 3,236 in single-core and 10,049 in multi-core performance. This represents a 40% performance boost compared to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.
The speed and efficiency offered by Qualcomm’s new Oryon cores have been confirmed in these tests. The processor’s base frequencies appear slightly higher than previous leaks suggested, with two main cores clocked at 4.32 GHz and six efficiency-focused cores running at 3.53 GHz.
Meanwhile, Apple’s iPhone 16, powered by the new A18 chip, seems to have fallen short of expectations. Leaked Geekbench results show the iPhone 16 scoring 3,114 in single-core and 6,666 in multi-core tests. While this shows a slight improvement in single-core performance compared to the iPhone 15’s A17 chip, the multi-core performance sees only a minor boost.
At this point, it’s clear that the OnePlus 13’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 offers much higher multi-core performance compared to the iPhone 16.
This power from Qualcomm’s new processor could outshine Apple’s A18, especially in tasks that demand high performance. However, the gap could narrow with the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max models, which feature the more powerful A18 Pro processor.
Apple claims that the A18 offers a 30% faster CPU and 40% faster GPU compared to the A16 chip. But the Geekbench results so far indicate that these claims may not be fully realized yet.
While the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max models might have a chance to close the performance gap with the A18 Pro, the OnePlus 13 is already showing signs of dominating the market with its Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 processor.
