OnePlus has begun the countdown to the launch of its new affordable gaming phone, the OnePlus Ace 6T, confirming that the device will deliver a significant jump in frame rates. Just days before its official launch on December 3rd, the company has confirmed that the Ace 6T will support 165 FPS in some popular games.
The First Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 Phone
According to the announcement, games like League of Legends: Wild Rift, KartRider Rush+, and even Clash of Clans will be able to run at 165 frames per second on the device. This support is based not only on the device’s 165Hz display but also on additional optimizations in OnePlus’s custom gaming software.
The Ace 6T is the first phone to feature Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chip. This 3nm processor features Qualcomm’s upgraded Oryon CPU design. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 5’s two main cores will clock at 3.8 GHz, while its six performance cores will operate at 3.32 GHz.
OnePlus plans to offer three color options at launch: Shadow Green, Electric Purple, and Flash Black. Battery life and charging capacity also appear quite ambitious. OnePlus is expected to use an 8,300 mAh battery, the largest of any OnePlus phone announced so far, paired with 100W SuperVOOC fast charging technology. The phone also retains the 3D ultrasonic fingerprint reader and gaming-ready 165Hz panel.
This push for ultra-high refresh rate gaming has been ongoing for months. At the OnePlus Gaming Conference in September, the company promised to introduce 165Hz displays across its entire lineup, starting with the OnePlus 15. The Ace 6T is now joining this effort, taking it a step further with 165 FPS support for competitive and rhythm games.
We’ll see how much of a difference this makes when the phone finally lands in gamers’ hands, but on paper, the Ace 6T should deliver the smoothest gameplay currently available on a smartphone, especially for games optimized to reach 165 FPS. More details are expected at the official unveiling on December 3rd.
