OnePlus is currently testing a new device featuring a flat display with 1.5K resolution and a 165 Hz refresh rate. The phone will be equipped with a specially designed touch IC to enhance touch response.
OnePlus will release a mid-range phone with a 165Hz display
According to reliable sources from Digital Chat Station, OnePlus is experimenting with 165 Hz refresh rate screens for its mid-range phones. While such high refresh rates are usually reserved for flagship models, the company plans to adopt this technology for its premium devices as well if the response is positive.
The 165 Hz display is expected to debut on the mid-range OnePlus Ace 6, which will also feature an ultrasonic under-display fingerprint sensor, a Snapdragon 8-series processor, and a metal mid-frame. Whether the phone will have an IP68 water and dust resistance rating remains uncertain for now.
The OnePlus Ace 6 is slated for an October launch and may be marketed globally under the name OnePlus 15R.
Furthermore, Digital Chat Station mentioned that Xiaomi’s Redmi brand is also exploring similar 165 Hz screen technology. It appears there is intense competition among Chinese manufacturers when it comes to high refresh rate displays.
