OpenAI has signed the European Commission’s Artificial Intelligence Pact, pledging to be more responsible in the field of artificial intelligence. The EU law, first announced last month, has been adopted by the company as of today. OpenAI also said it will play an active role for the AI Pact.
OpenAI signs the Artificial Intelligence Act
The Artificial Intelligence Pact has emerged as an initiative aimed at mainstreaming trusted and ethical AI practices in the European Union. As a signatory to the pact, OpenAI has identified three key action plans to support the core values of the new legislation.
The company will establish an internal governance strategy to ensure the safe use of AI technologies in Europe. This will include identifying and auditing systems that the AI Act classifies as “high risk”.
OpenAI will also organize training programs to increase AI literacy among its employees and partners. The goal will be to ensure that everyone who uses AI models such as GPT can use these technologies correctly.
The company has also pledged to take the necessary steps to comply with the Artificial Intelligence Pact, which will come into force in the next two years. With this regulation, it announced that it will provide transparency according to the capabilities and intended use of artificial intelligence systems.
It is critical for companies like OpenAI to share details on how models are developed and trained. In this context, companies need to be more responsible in the field of artificial intelligence before “systemic risks” occur.
