As the artificial intelligence industry develops, training on language models also becomes important. One of the first companies to come to the fore in this context is Nvidia. Nvidia, which makes millions of dollars with artificial intelligence chips such as the H100, may have a new rival. OpenAI wants to develop its own artificial intelligence chips by establishing a global chip network.

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman wants to develop custom AI chips through a global chip facility, according to a new report. Altman aims to raise billions of dollars from investors such as SoftBank and G42 to finance its network of factories for chip production.

Sam Altman’s goal is to design chips optimized for training language models such as GPT developed by OpenAI. This will give the company both greater independence and flexibility. It’s currently largely powered by Nvidia H100 GPUs.

Google will introduce the Pixel 8 series soon. But before that, Google gave clues for the new color of Pixel Pro.

OpenAI’s CEO sees the company’s proprietary chip design and world-class manufacturing infrastructure as key to AI education. ChatGPT developer, who made a bid for the chip factory years ago, aims to put its special chips into production quickly, without waiting in line.

Microsoft recently launched its first own AI chip called Azure Maia, while Amazon and Google have developed custom silicones for AI. Even Meta conducts its artificial intelligence research with Nvidia H100.

Altman aims to build a global chip facility with the help of billions of dollars in funding and compete with Nvidia. This way, OpenAI will not have to wait in line for the artificial intelligence chips it will need.
