OpenAI o1-Preview Tested with Math Olympiad Questions!

Ana sayfa / News

OpenAI’s new AI model, o1, is set to meet users in the next two weeks. This next-generation model boasts impressive capabilities in solving complex problems and logical reasoning. So, what are the results?

Unlike previous models, OpenAI o1 excels in solving multi-step complex problems. It can tackle a range of challenges, from mathematical equations to software errors, and explain its processes to users. The model is also claimed to significantly reduce the issue of ‘hallucination,’ where misleading information is produced.

Additionally, o1’s use of a ‘chain of thought’ method for step-by-step problem solving resembles human reasoning more closely. According to OpenAI Research Director Bob McGrew, o1 particularly outperforms its predecessors in mathematical problem-solving.

Is OpenAI ceasing to be a non-profit company?

OpenAI is preparing for a major change in 2024. It will transform into a for-profit organization and move towards sustainable growth in the field of artificial intelligence.

In a test with difficult questions from the International Mathematics Olympiad, OpenAI o1 correctly solved 83% of the problems, while GPT-4o only achieved a 13% success rate on the same questions.

OpenAI plans to offer o1 and o1-mini primarily to ChatGPT Plus and Team users initially. Enterprise and Education users will have access to these models next week. The release date for o1-mini for free users has not yet been announced.

The pricing for the o1 Preview model has also sparked discussion: $15 for one million input tokens and $60 for one million output tokens, which is about three times the cost of the GPT-4o model.
