OpenAI has announced the launch of the Stargate Project to strengthen AI infrastructure and solidify the United States’ leadership in this field. The project involves a total investment of $500 billion over the next four years.

The project will begin with an initial budget of $100 billion allocated for its launch in Texas. This investment is expected to significantly contribute to both the U.S. and global economies. Stargate will also support the reindustrialization of the United States and establish a strategic infrastructure critical to national security.
The Stargate Project is being realized through a partnership between OpenAI, SoftBank, Oracle, and MGX. SoftBank will handle the financial responsibility of the project, while OpenAI will take on operational leadership. SoftBank CEO Masayoshi Son will serve as the chairman of the project’s board.
Leading technology companies, including Microsoft, NVIDIA, Oracle, and Arm, will play significant roles in this initiative. The longstanding collaboration between NVIDIA and OpenAI, which dates back to 2016, will be further deepened with Stargate. Additionally, OpenAI will continue its partnership with Microsoft by leveraging the Azure platform.
The primary goal of the project is to initiate a new era in artificial intelligence on a global scale. The new infrastructure to be built under this initiative is expected to bring significant technological and economic advancements.
