Opera has released a new update package that significantly enhances the user experience for its AI-driven browser, Neon. Aiming to remain competitive in the increasingly competitive AI-powered browser market, the company has introduced highly functional new features, along with interface and infrastructure improvements. This update expands the browser’s capabilities far beyond simple web browsing and transforms it into a comprehensive research assistant.
Opera Neon now features Gemini 3 Pro and a quick research mode
Introduced last October, the Opera Deep Research Agent (ODRA) now features a “1-minute Deep Research” mode. This new feature breaks down a complex problem into the smallest possible pieces and allows multiple AI “researchers” to work on the task simultaneously. The company describes this mode as a balance between a simple AI query and a comprehensive deep research. This mode accelerates the process when users don’t always need a long, thorough research but want more than a simple answer.
Another notable feature of the update is the improved pattern selector within Neon Chat. Users now have direct access to Google’s latest Gemini 3 Pro and Nano Banana Pro models. The most practical aspect of this feature is that it allows users to seamlessly switch between models, even in the middle of a conversation. This makes it possible to take advantage of the strengths of different models in a single session.
Google Docs integration, one of the most requested features, has also been implemented with the Neon Do agent. Now, a new Google Doc can be created with a single command by selecting the “Do” agent from the browser’s address bar. Furthermore, operations such as editing existing documents, adding information found online to a file, or renaming a file can be managed directly from the browser.
Opera Neon, which boasts all these features, is available for a monthly subscription fee of $19.99. Those who want to try the browser, which is not yet fully available to the general public, must sign up for a waiting list on the company’s website.
The number and capabilities of browsers offering advanced AI features are increasing daily. Would you prefer your browser to take over tasks like creating documents or conducting in-depth research?
