Oppo Find X7 is the first phone to support 5.5G!

Ana sayfa / Technology

OPPO unveiled its flagship Find X7 series in January. There’s more good news for the Find X7 and X7 Ultra family. Today, China Mobile announced the commercial launch of 5G-Advanced (aka 5.5G or 5GA), and the first phones to support the improved network standard are closer than you think.

Pete Lau, Product Director at Oppo, has released a teaser showing the Oppo Find X7 Ultra with “5GA” showing the status bar. The Find X7 series uses different processors. Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 was used for the Ultra and the Dimensity 9300 processor for the standard model. This makes the Oppo Find X7 duo the first phones to support 5.5G.

Within a year, the number of devices supporting 5.5G is expected to grow to over 20 compatible devices. China Mobile plans to launch the new network covering more than 300 cities by the end of this year. The top 100 will include huge metropolitan areas such as Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou.

5.5G promises to be 300% faster, reaching speeds of up to 10 Gbps. China Mobile has already set up demonstration areas around the country so Find X7 owners can try it out. 5G-Advanced (5.5G) is the marketing name for 3GPP Version 18. This includes using “non-terrestrial networks”, i.e. satellites as network cells, which could be related to the recent teaser of an Oppo Find X7 Ultra with satellite communications.

OPPO Find X7 uses the MediaTek Dimensity 9300 chipset. Find X7 Ultra is powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. The series comes with up to 16GB of RAM and up to 512GB of storage and features a 6.82-inch LTPO AMOLED display with Full HD+ resolution and 4500 nits peak brightness.
