The entire world is watching this live broadcast. The OSIRIS-Rex mission was successfully completed in recent days. The spacecraft approached Earth and successfully delivered the pieces it collected from the Bennu Asteroid to our planet.

Officials have received this mysterious package carried between celestial bodies and have conducted their initial examinations. Finally, NASA is live-streaming the opening of the package from the Bennu Asteroid, right before the eyes of all the curious minds. This mission will help shed light on the mysteries of the universe.

The cargo from the Bennu Asteroid is finally being opened in a live broadcast!

In recent days, the spacecraft O-Rex from the OSIRIS-Rex mission successfully delivered the package shedding light on the mysteries of the universe to Earth. Researchers transported the capsule carrying pieces from the Bennu Asteroid to a laboratory thanks to NASA’s successful operation.

NASA first began investigating the mysterious dust on the capsule. Scientists believed this dust might belong to the Bennu Asteroid. Finally, today, in a live broadcast, this enigmatic package will unveil all its secrets.

OSIRIS-REx began its mission in September 2016. NASA allocated a budget of 1.2 billion dollars for this mission. Two years after its launch, the spacecraft reached an asteroid with a width of 1,650 meters. In 2020, the spacecraft managed to collect a surface sample from Bennu, which was larger than expected.

Scientists discovered that the collection chamber’s door was jammed with larger rocky material, and some rock particles had leaked into space. To prevent further material loss, they decided to quickly store the sample collection device inside the return capsule.

In this way, they aimed to bring back as much sample material as possible to Earth. The mission’s goal was to return at least 2.1 ounces of material to Earth. However, initial estimates indicate that the OSIRIS collection is around 8.8 ounces.

The OSIRIS-REx mission has now concluded successfully. The O-Rex spacecraft doesn’t stop; after dropping off its package to Earth, it waved goodbye and embarked on its new mission. It has since changed its course to Apophis Asteroid.

Of course, the mission’s name has also been updated. The O-Rex spacecraft will conduct investigations on the Apophis Asteroid as part of the OSIRIS-REx-APEX mission. Researchers will explore the possibility of this asteroid colliding with Earth, as studies suggest that the Apophis Asteroid will come within 32,000 miles of the Earth’s surface, which is as close as the Moon.
