If you are tired of seeing ads on social media applications, there is a solution. Of course, like everything else, this has a price. This paid ad-free subscription service was available on X, formerly Twitter. Now it is coming to Facebook and Instagram, which continue to exist under the umbrella of Meta. Here are the details…
The era of paid ad-free subscriptions for Facebook and Instagram begins!
Advertisements are now well established in social media applications. Advertisements started to dominate almost more than content. Meta rolled up his sleeves to stop this. Of course, it expects users to pay a fee for this. This feature actually sounds familiar. Social media users are familiar with this feature on the popular social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter.
So who will be able to benefit from Meta’s paid subscription service that will remove ads from Facebook and Instagram? For now, Meta will make this service available throughout the European Union. He also prepared a payment plan, taking into account the existing and additional fees of the platform. This service will be available on the web for around €9.99 per month and on iOS and Android for €12.99 per month.
Meta announced its new paid ad-free subscription package in a blog post. In his blog post, he stated, “We respect the spirit and intent of these evolving European regulations. We are determined to comply with them.”
Meta will continue to offer free access to its products to people who do not want to pay. The company announced that the experience for non-paying users will not change. He also added that existing ad preference tools will remain available.
The ad-free paid subscription service will only be available to people aged 18 and over in the EU, EEA and Switzerland. This will be valid for all connected Facebook and Instagram accounts for now. However, Meta will eventually charge extra for linked accounts. From March 1, 2024, the company will charge an additional fee of 6 euros per linked account on the web and 8 euros on iOS and Android. The company underlined that as long as someone is subscribed, their data will not be used for ad targeting.
