Palworld developer Pocketpair made some unexpected statements about the new game. Pocketpair CEO Takuro Mizobe stated that the new game will not have a big budget unlike Palworld. This shows that the company has different plans after Palworld.
Palworld developer: New game will not be big budget
Pocketpair emphasized that they will not make a big budget game after Palworld, which reached millions of users. He said that the studio “wants to pursue what it thinks is interesting as indie games”.
The CEO also said that the studio doesn’t have the infrastructure to make large-scale games. “While it would be nice to have a big budget, we can’t spend beyond the capabilities of Pocketpair,” Mizobe said.
After launching on Steam Early Access and Xbox Game Preview in January, Palworld has done unexpectedly well. It attracted 25 million players in the first month. The studio also recently partnered with Sony Music and Aniplex to form Palworld Entertainment.
But according to Mizobe, Pocketpair doesn’t have big budgetary ambitions for its next game. Therefore, it will focus on independent projects that it finds creative.
