ASICS and Dassault Systèmes have embarked on a groundbreaking collaboration that promises to revolutionize the sports footwear industry. The newly opened “ASICS Customization Studio” in Paris offers a service that creates custom insoles using virtual twin technology. This service combines ASICS’ expertise in performance footwear with Dassault Systèmes’ 3DEXPERIENCE platform and the power of virtual twin technology.

The ASICS Customization Studio, designed as an ultra-compact factory, enables the on-site and on-demand production of shoe components tailored to each user’s needs. This process is made possible through ASICS’ proprietary sports technology and Dassault Systèmes’ modular 3DEXPERIENCE platform.

ASICS uses its expertise, supported by Dassault Systèmes’ technology, to design and simulate custom shoe insoles modeled on foot shape data within the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.

Advanced 3D printing technology is employed to create insoles made from layered and highly flexible materials that offer excellent breathability and softness. The most notable feature is the ability to precisely adjust the softness level for any part of the foot. This feature helps reduce strain, support physical recovery, and enhance performance.

ASICS plans to conduct operational tests and monitor user satisfaction before offering this new service to a broader audience. In 2025, the ASICS Customization Studio will be transferred to Japan for further testing. The company aims to apply this technology not only to shoe insoles but also to other footwear products in the future.

Mitsuyuki Tominaga, President and COO of ASICS, states that this collaboration leverages the advanced technology and expertise of the two industry-leading companies to provide optimum value to each customer, helping them lead healthier and happier lives with products tailored to their individual needs.

Pascal Daloz, CEO of Dassault Systèmes, emphasizes that this partnership showcases a holistic manufacturing approach that prioritizes consumer experience and demonstrates how the virtual world is shaping the 21st-century economy. Daloz believes that virtual twin technology not only enhances product performance and experience but also enables the creation of more sustainable business models.
