Piracy crisis in 2024 Paris Olympics!

Ana sayfa / Security

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has stepped up its efforts against piracy of the Paris 2024 Olympics. According to a report by a torrent site, the IOC has sent more than 5,000 takedown notices to Google over the past few weeks targeting pirate live streaming sites.

Torrent sites, which were a big problem in previous Olympics, took a back seat this year. TorrentFreak analyzed the DMCA takedown notices and found that there are no torrent sites in this scope. However, there are many social media accounts and websites that broadcast pirated content.

Pirated live streams pose a major threat to sporting events. These sites, which influence users by buying illegal advertisements, can also commit fraud through illegal betting.

The IOC is working with anti-piracy company Friend MTS to identify infringing links in Google Search. It issued dozens of takedown notices during and after the opening ceremony of the Olympics. It is also working with Google in this regard.

Many users cannot access their broadcasts abroad due to geo-blocking. In this regard, they may prefer VPN services. However, it should be emphasized that it is not legal to watch official channels with a VPN.
