Google is stepping in to address persistent battery issues on the Pixel 6a. Starting this month, eligible users can get a free Pixel 6a battery replacement or opt for compensation, with a mandatory Android 16 update also rolling out to improve efficiency and reduce overheating.
Pixel 6a battery replacement offer is now official
Users facing battery drain or overheating on the Pixel 6a can now request one free battery replacement, no strings attached. The program includes a physical inspection and eligibility check before the repair begins. Alternatively, users can opt for compensation instead of repair.
The available options include:
- A free battery replacement at authorized centers
- A cash payout of ₹8,500 or $100 via Payoneer
- Google Store credit worth $150 (₹12,700)
How to check Pixel 6a battery replacement eligibility
Google has made it easy to find out if you qualify. All you need to do is:
- Visit Google’s official battery program eligibility page
- Enter your device’s IMEI number
- Submit the email address linked to the phone
Rollout covers multiple regions
Battery replacements will be available from July 21, 2025, at walk-in repair centers in India, the US, Canada, the UK, Germany, Singapore, and Japan. Mail-in service will also be offered for users in the US and India. Google plans to expand support to France, parts of Europe, Australia, and other countries soon.
Some Pixel 6a devices may not qualify
Google notes that phones with liquid damage or major physical issues may be excluded. Cosmetic damage or broken screens may result in service fees. Users will receive a cost estimate before repairs begin, with the choice to proceed or have their device returned.
A separate Android 16 update will begin rolling out on July 8, 2025, aimed at improving battery life and reducing thermal issues for all Pixel 6a devices. Whether you go for a replacement or not, some relief is on the way.
