Google has once again leaked details about the Pixel 9 series before its official launch. The tech giant, although reluctant to admit it, tends to reveal all the features and designs of Pixel models well in advance each year. Now, it has emerged that a new model, the Pixel 9 Pro XL, will be added to the Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro lineup.
Google’s Surprise: Pixel 9 Pro XL Design and Screen Size Revealed!
The Pixel 9 Pro model, featuring a triple-camera design, was revealed back in January. However, the real surprise is the emergence of the Pixel 9 Pro XL model. Just like iPhone models, Google is introducing three main models.
In fact, Google introduced XL models during the Nexus era, targeting users who prefer larger screens. The company was developing such models for users who wanted a bigger screen. However, the XL series, which had better features than the main model but not as much as the Pro series, came to an end with the Pixel 5. It was eventually replaced by the Pro models in 2021.
Google used to design the XL model as a larger version of the main model, with no significant difference in terms of features. Now, the XL name is making a comeback with the Pixel 9 series. Currently, the specifications of the Pixel 9 are not fully known. However, there’s an expectation for a significant difference in the camera department between the Pixel 9 and 9 Pro. As revealed by the design of the Pixel 9 Pro XL, there seems to be no technical difference between the two models.
The Pixel 9, 9 Pro, and 9 Pro XL models have interesting screen size preferences. The Pixel 9 model will have a 6.03-inch screen, the Pixel 9 Pro model a 6.1-inch screen, and the Pixel 9 Pro XL model a 6.5-inch screen. Surprisingly, there’s almost no difference in screen size between the Pixel 9 and 9 Pro. Additionally, the screen size of the 9 Pro XL is smaller than the 8 Pro’s 6.7-inch screen.
It’s speculated that Google has listened to user criticisms about single-handed use, hence the design choices. This might mean that the Pixel 9 models will have better ergonomics for single-handed use. The design of the Pixel 9 Pro XL is also in line with the other members of the series, while the screen size, despite the XL moniker, remains average.
Specifications of the Pixel 9 Series Technical details about the Pixel 9 series have not yet been revealed. However, some previously leaked details are worth mentioning. According to earlier rumors, the Pixel 9 series will come with the Adaptive Touch feature.
This feature allows touchscreen sensitivity to be adjusted based on factors such as your environment, activities, or screen protector. Additionally, there are expectations for the Pixel 9 series to feature Qi2 charging technology. This feature, similar to MagSafe, is a standard that increases wireless charging speeds to 15W and provides magnetic alignment.
