Recently released for PC and console, Black Myth: Wukong made a big impact all over the world. In fact, the latest reports from China revealed that thanks to Black Myth: Wukong, PlayStation 5 sales have reached a new momentum. Some stores said they had exhausted their PS5 stocks.
PlayStation 5 sales peaked with Black Myth: Wukong
Based on the Chinese novel Journey to the West, Black Myth: Wukong was released last week as a PS5 and PC exclusive. Accordingly, initial figures revealed that it has sold more than 5 million copies. The game, which is not yet available on other platforms such as Xbox, managed to get many players to buy a PS5.
Chinese retailers and stores have confirmed a huge increase in demand for the PS5. A store manager said that they received many questions about PS5 stocks. Sony’s stores in China also stated that they were quickly running out of PS5 stock.
Online sales for the PS5 have also skyrocketed. Searches for the console on Alibaba’s second-hand marketplace Xianyu grew by around 300 percent this month. Sellers referenced Black Myth: Wukong in their ads, resulting in more than 700 PS5 orders in just one day.
Even in the week leading up to the game’s release, Sony was busy. Accordingly, the company’s PS5 sales volume grew by more than 100 percent compared to the previous month. The console was the best-selling entertainment product for four days.
Black Myth: Wukong’s success on PS5 is likely to continue until the Xbox version arrives. Of course, even though it can be played on PC, it is possible to say that it contributed greatly to PS5 sales.
